DECLAN HEGARTY
The Deep End
Tickets £5.00 from the Bar
Declan played here last June and blew the audience away with his highly-skilled and sympathetic interpretations of folk and rock classics. A superb guitarist, blessed with a spectacular voice, Declan covers classics from Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, U2, Adele, Oasis, Jack Johnson…the list goes on. He also throws in one or two self-penned numbers, including a calypso about living in the West End.
You can check him out on YouTube but, for now, here’s what some Club members had to say…
“…WHAT a voice…!”
“…couldn’t believe the way he soared on the powerful bits of Tom Petty’s ‘Freefalling’. This lad has talent in abundance…”
“…where else does he play…?”
“…can you get any of this stuff on CD?”
“…did he REALLY write that calypso thing about the West End and ‘the clever Underground’ and all that?”
We expect a sell out, so don’t hang about. Why not make a night of it and sample some of Charlie’s splendid fare at the Deep End?
And finally…when you check Dec on YouTube, you’ll discover he’s also a master of the clarsach (Scottish harp.) If you like what you see, there, have a word with Fraser Makeham and we’ll endeavour to arrange another gig with a focus on classical harp music (perhaps with some “classic dishes” from Charlie). It’s your Club…let us know the kind of gigs you’d like to see…
