MEMORIES Sir Robert MacLean It must have been sometime in the thirties when I joined the club. Prior to joining I had been a guest on a number of occasions and had very much enjoyed the Baths. I lived at 24 Buckingham Terrace which was, of course, directly accross Great Western Road. The club was quite convenient. The older members used to talk about this and that in desultory sort of way and I quite well recall how they discussed how the used to come across to the club from neighbouring houses or flats wearing swimming apparel and a dressing gown on Sundays. I gathered that most local members arrived in this casual manner.
In the 1930s there was, of course, not much traffic on a Sunday morning and this seemed sensible and appropriate.
